Linda Della Donna is a former secretary who quit the day job to write full time. A graduate of the Institute of Children’s Literature and several on-line writing classes, Linda writes for children, parents, and adults without partners. She tackles the hard subjects - cancer, dying, and death. Her work appears in Westchester Parent, The Journal News, Once Upon A Time, and on-line ezines.
In 1986, Linda won The Reporter Dispatch writing contest. Her short story, “The Year That Christmas Waited” took first prize. In 2004, Linda entered “The Writer’s Room Magazine” writer’s contest and her flash fiction entry, “Red Soup,” placed 2nd.
Linda has attended writing workshops in Taos, New Mexico with Natalie Goldberg, author of Writing Down the Bones, Highlight’s at Chautauqua, and is a regular at Highlight’s Honesdale, PA writer’s workshops. She writes essays, poetry, children’s non-fiction, and more. Currently, she is working on a memoir.
Writing for widows, teaching useful information, and offering tips to survive are Linda’s favorite writing themes. After a two-year hiatus, and wondering would she ever write again, Linda returns to her writing passion. She picks up a pen. She writes. “And sometime when I wasn’t looking, I got a new life.”
Linda makes her home in a suburb of New York with her small dog, Izzy, and his little cat, Tux. Interested readers can learn more about Linda and her writing by visiting her website and reading her blog.
