Ask savvy business owners how they get the word out about their businesses and you’ll probably find that many of them have blogs. They know getting their business name out to potential customers online, and having the ability to advertise and market products and services across the internet, in a more personal way, is a good idea.

A blog is an easy, inexpensive and, often times free, way to create an online presence for your company. Even though blogs (which stands for web-logs) began as personal online diaries, today you’ll find that most businesses have a blog. Here are several reason why blogs have become so popular.

They are:

- Much more affordable to set up than a website. Websites can cost hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars to create and maintain.

- Easy to create, really in just a matter of minutes. All you need to do is create an account, come up with a blog name and select a template - and you’re on your way.

- A way to develop a relationship with your customers. If you post to your blog regulary your customers will become acquainted with you and will more likely trust the products and services you offer.

- Another way to showcase your products. Creating an online catalogue is relatively simple and will help you save on printing costs. It also allows your customers easy access to pictures of all the products you sell, and is easily updated.

If you’re starting your own small business don’t hesitate to create a blog. Log on to blogger.com. This blog service publishes and hosts blogs for free.
