Hey, writers,
So far there are 16 writers who have accepted the 40 Article Challenge.
That’s super!
Other writers who aren’t sure about the challenge have emailed me, asking just what article marketing is all about.
So here’s some information if article marketing is new to you:
Many people who publish regular ezines, or post new content regularly at their website, look for FREE sources for that content (a.k.a. articles).
As a result, many article directories have popped up online.
These are sites where writers can offer their articles for free to people who need material for their publications or websites, blogs, etc.
Why would a writer want to offer his/her articles for FREE?
Well, because in order for the publisher to use your articles, he must agree to publish them with your resource information at the end of the article.
Your resource information is where you include links to your websites, blogs, and anything else that will cause readers to want to find out more about you and your writing services and/or publications, etc.
Go to www.ezinearticles.com
Scroll through the various categories for articles, then read a few articles under some of the categories that interest you. Notice the box at the end of each article that gives information about the author and links to his site(s).
As a writer, you can write articles about all sorts of topics. Keep in mind though that you want to write about things that you would like to become regarded as an expert about.
For example, since I own a small gourmet food business, I often submit articles with food tips, recipes, etc.
My resource box at the end of these articles directs readers to my gourmet food blog.
I also coach freelance writers, so many of my articles are about writing.
My resource box at the end of these articles directs readers either to my
website for children’s writing or my coaching website or blog.
If you want to draw traffic to your website so people will find out more about you as a writer, then write articles that relate to the subject(s) you want to become known as an expert about.
If you want to become known as an expert in children’s writing, for example, then write articles that will help other children’s writers.
You might interview published children’s writers and get some writing tips from them. You might write reviews of children’s books and submit those reviews to article directories.
If you want to become known as an expert in “pet care,” for example, you could write all sorts of articles about various pets and how to care for them.
Then, link back to your website or blog in your resource box where you list some of your other published work about pets, along with a blurb that says you are available for freelance writing projects about pets.
Spend some time at ezinearticles.com and you’ll find other articles there to read about article marketing.
I hope I’ve answered at least some of your questions. And I hope you will join us and accept the 40 Article Challenge.
