2006 is winding down and 2007 will be here before you know it! Are you overwhelmed of things you need to do in order to prepare for the new year? Here are some handy tips on making 2007 a more prosperous and rewarding year!
Make a list of “need to do” items such as:
- Bill for work completed so that 2006 financial records are complete
- Do you use spreadsheets for tracking income? A/R or A/P? be sure to update for 2007
- Organize tax receipts and issue 1099’s if applicable
- Have you added more accomplishments in 2006? Update your press kit.
- Have you been published? Write a press release or two about it!
- Did you start a new service in 2006, such as podcasting or photography services? Be sure to blog about it.
- ON JANUARY 7TH, tune into Yvonne Perry’s podcast interview with Peter Bowerman!
- Write more articles if possible
Now, make a list of “Want to do” items such as:
- Goals you want to achieve in 2007
- What kind of salary do you want to earn and PURSUE IT!
- Pick a worthwhile cause or charity and do work for them pro bono. They deserve it.
- Make a point of stepping outside your comfort zone when writing by trying various styles of writing.
- Not a fan of networking? MAKE YOURSELF attend at least 1 event every 2-3 months.
- Have alot of writing to do? Find the nearest coffee shop and setup shop. Carry business cards with you in case someone asks that famous question…”So, what do you do for a living?”
- Think of the most challenging or intimidating thing you can do with your writing and try it at least once. You’ll be amazed how well you do! (Such as pitching a New York Literary agent or query Ladies Home Journal, etc.)
AND finally, take some time on the 31st to spend some time with friends and or family and toast to a happy, healthy, wealthy and wise 2007!
Cheers!
