This is a question that consumed me for several years after I woke up to the real economics of book publishing. (As in, the average royalty for a book comes down to $1.17 or so, net.)
I’m happy to report my conclusions: that yes you can make a good living from a book. There is a caveat, however: It has to be nonfiction of a certain type.
I’m also happy to report that now is, in my opinion, the best time to be an author—of any kind. Technology has made it easier all around to write, publish, and promote books.
I taught a class last week that talked about how to make a living from a book. You are welcome to download the audio of the class for free. (You do need to sign up, however, but you can always get off that list with a click if you wish.)
Here’s what you will learn by the time you’re done listening:
- What a book can do for your business (and for you personally)
- Why this is the BEST time to be an author. (I am so pumped about the opportunities authors have today to become successful!)
- Mistakes 90% of authors make (but you won’t, becauseyou will know how to avoid them … along with all thewasted money and time)
- The mindset you need to become successful as anauthor today (adopt this, and the sky will be your limit)
- How to begin your book right after the call, if youso choose. (Two students wrote me right afterward saying they had outlined their book in just minutes!)
There’s a study guide to go with it, for you to take nos and start brainstorming your book idea. Check it out now!
