Fish Fry

Meet Trustee Wanda Doyle (3rd from left) and all the merry members of the First Community Baptist Church Senior Usher Board, president Barbara Salley, vice president Gary Wilson, Jeffrey Wilson, Steven Wilson, Reggie Wilson, Brother Stephan Doyle, Jr., and Althea Kay.
They are pictured here taking a break at their Fish Fry fundraiser held in the parking lot of Richard J. Bailey School, 33 Hillside Avenue, Greenburgh, New York.

On Saturday, April 29, First Community Baptist members came together to raise money for a new roof and general maintenance and upkeep for their church.

“We’re without a pastor at this time,” said Trustee Doyle, smiling proudly, adding, “But we have Deacon Ernest Walthal, Chairman of the Board of Deacons.”
Despite ominous elephant clouds, Trustee Doyle, and her joy-filled co-workers, dished delicious food into styrofoam clam shells and greeted hungry customers with smiles and laughter.
“We all have our green cards,” joked one board member, dropping a batter dipped chicken wing into a vat of hot oil.

Today’s Fish Fry menu:
Batter dipped, deep fried fish fillets; fingerlicking good chicken; macaroni salad chunked with tuna, hard boiled eggs; crisped lettuce topped with squirt-in-the-eye cherry tomatoes; stick-to-your-teeth fresh baked bread; carbonated soft drink; slab of best-ever-ate “Aunt Wanda’s” pound cake.
$8, please, thank you, very much.
